Open the door to safety. Change a life.

Women in Transition House is seeking your support to help fund a new safe and confidential shelter for women and their children who have experienced domestic and intimate partner violence (DIPV).

This new facility has been thoughtfully designed to provide both immediate safety and longer-term stability. In addition to emergency shelter, the building will include second-stage housing with 13 affordable apartments in various sizes, three of which will be fully accessible. In total, the space can support up to 13 adults and approximately 12 children, depending on family needs.

Residents will also benefit from shared spaces, including a community kitchen, meeting room, and a safe, fenced-in outdoor play area for children and pets, creating a secure and supportive environment for healing and growth.

This project has been made possible in part by the generous donation of land from the City of Fredericton, helping to bring this vision to life for our community.

Purpose-built with care, the new house will create more opportunities to deliver critical programs, resources, and support services. By expanding our capacity, we will be able to serve more women in the Fredericton area who need immediate safety and long-term support but we can’t do this without your help.

What is the Open the Doors campaign?

The Open the Doors campaign is a community-driven fundraising initiative to support the construction of a new Women in Transition House. This safe and confidential shelter will provide women and their children experiencing domestic and intimate partner violence with a secure place to stay, access to support services, and an opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Through the generosity of donors, sponsors, and community partners, this campaign aims to raise $2 million to expand vital services and open the door to safety, healing, and new beginnings in Fredericton.
